Mallpocalypse

I went to the mall for the first time this week and I almost cried. For me, the mall and local boutiques are my office. I know the names and faces in each shop and it feels comforting and exciting for me to be there. There were a few jitters going in, but I left feeling somber and deflated.

Many of the stores were still closed. Some had removed merchandise leaving dark, empty store fronts with the promise to return soon. Several had ropes across their doors requiring employee approval to enter. Some have removed merchandise and fixtures off the floor to allow for more space, and a few were simply moving forward with business as usual. Although I’m confident retail will make progress as the economy continues to reopen, I think we all know that nothing is going to be normal for a while. If you need or want to shop, this is going to require a lot of patience, and even more expertise.

As I contemplate what the future holds for fashion and retail, I’m also thinking of new ways to serve you. How can I make getting dressed easier for you? How can I find what you need when it’s not as easy to access? In the midst of all this uncertainty, here’s what I know for sure; I KNOW CLOTHES. It doesn’t matter if they’re in store or online I’ve been putting ALL kinds of clothes, on ALL kinds of bodies, for a long time.
