Sleep Chic

The year was 1982, and like many 6 year olds at the time, I was obsessed with the musical Annie. I loved her sunny disposition, the glitz of Daddy Warbuck’s luxurious lifestyle, and even the seedy glamour of Miss Hannigan (say what you will, but she wore silk gowns, boas and lots of jewelry, I was into it)!  Most of all, I loved Annie’s red dress and that locket! Needless to say, I was terribly disappointed when my mom made me wear one of Annie’s “orphan” dresses instead of the red one for my 1st grade picture day.

Movies and television continue to be glorious sources for fashion inspiration for me. Most recently, I watched The Undoing on HBO starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. While many people are talking about Nicole’s coat wardrobe (hello red velvet Max Mara!) I was particularly impressed with her pajama game. So many gorgeous robes, chemises and pajama sets! Cozy, elegant pajamas are not only a great gift, but also help you sleep better! Ok, I made that up, but why not consider elevating those tired college t-shirts and random knit shorts? If you’re spending less on clothes to go “out”, why not spend a little more on your clothes to stay “in” this season?

Natori Fleece, $98

Natori is known for their gorgeous (and pricey) silk prints, but this pair of solid fleece pj’s looks rich and cozy at a great price point.

"Bagheera" Sleep Shirt from Printfresh, $98

Could this sleep shirt be any cuter?! Printfresh offers a wide variety of playful, bold prints and sleepwear styles in sizes up to 4x. I’ll take one of each please!

"Night Owls" Pajama Set by Karen Mabon, $195

My mom reminds me I was scared of owls as a child, but then I happened to join a sorority where it was the mascot and I guess I got over it. Either way this pj set is adorable!

Aqua Leopard Print, $98

So soft you will want to wear these all day! (No judgement!)

P.J. Salvage Printed Flannel, $68

The roses say “sweet dreams”, and the skulls say “don’t wake me up!” It doesn’t get warmer than flannel!

Stars Above Knit Pajama Set, $29.99

If I hadn’t put my hands on these at Target I wouldn’t have believed it! The print looks so expensive and the knit is so very soft! Note: I’d anticipate some shrinkage after laundering these so I recommend sizing up.

Lauren Ralph Lauren Leopard Sleep Set, $68

If you like your pajamas on the classic side these are for you! Made of a crisp, cotton sateen they’re also available in petite and plus sizes.

La Perla Belted Dressing Gown, $362

This gorgeous silk robe is giving me Nicole Kidman vibes. Pairs well with a velvet chaise and a martini.

Nordstrom Bliss Plush Robe, $69

A chic-er version of the snuggie, this robe is available in 11 colors. If you don’t like this robe it’s also available as a blanket!

JohnnyWas "Evelyn" Robe, $198

I can picture myself wearing this on vacation somewhere. Who wants to go to the beach?

They don’t call this the teddy bear robe for nothing! Snuggle in because you ain’t going nowhere!

I’m not ignorant to the fact that many people are struggling with sleep right now, including myself. Here are a few extra tricks that have helped me catch some z’s, hopefully they’ll help you on your way to chic dreams too!

Brooklinen Silk Eye Mask, $2

Try a silk eye mask to keep the room extra dark. The silk also helps avoid wrinkles and creasing…on your face!

Quietude Sleep Mist by Templespa, $36

I stayed in a hotel a few years ago (remember hotels?!) where they had a sample on the bed and it had me hooked! Lightly mist your pillow or the room for a spa-like sensory sleep.

Olly "Sleep" Gummies, $12.89 for 50 ct

These “sleep” gummies not only have melatonin, but botanicals and an amino acid to help calm your brain and help you sleep with no morning grogginess.

Slip Silk Pillowcase, (King) $110

Silk pillowcases are said to assist with better hair (no bed head!) and are anti-aging due to less friction against the skin and absorbing less facial products. Cheaper than botox!

Celestial Seasonings "Tension Tamer" Tea, $2.38

Celestial Seasonings makes a Sleepytime tea, but I prefer Tension Tamer. It’s such a nice herbal flavor there’s no need to even add honey!

Ananda Hemp Full Spectrum CBD Oil, $89.95

There are a lot of CBD products out there promoting the benefits of the hemp plant, but Ananda is of the highest quality. Place this under your tongue for a minute and enter sandman! I also sometimes use it in the middle of the night when I awake and can’t turn my brain off. It lulls me back to sleep and no morning brain fog!

Jessica Russell Flint Silk "Alphabet" Masks, $50

I couldn’t resist adding an additional sleep mask because these are so fun! I don’t have a teen to buy a gift for, but this seems like a perfect present!

Sleepy Bathtime; Epsom Salt $1.99 and Dr. Teal's Sleep Bath $4.89

Why choose soothing epsom salts or a bubble bath when you can do both! Taking a bath before bed is so calming. I add lavender scented salts AND Dr. Teals for ultimate relaxation. Both available at Walgreens (often on sale!) Candle and wine sold separately ;)
