Fall for Five, and Five for Fall

It’s no secret that the fashion calendar is out of whack. Designers show spring/summer collections in the fall and next fall’s collections in the midst of winter. As much as consumers may want a buy-now-wear-now schedule I don’t see the fashion zeitgeist changing anytime soon. Perhaps this is why my own style calendar is upside upside down, but I suspect the real reason I’m ready for leather and cashmere in the midst of “hell’s front porch” temps is…it’s time to go back to school!

We need not calculate how many years ago it’s been since I attended said school, but its psychological impact remains deeply ingrained on my fashion psyche. Back to school time was second only to Easter when you knew you were going to get brand-spanking-new clothes! I won’t bore you with how many fresh back-to-school fits* I remember, but some culottes and a stained glass-inspired top definitely make the top 5.

Despite sizzling summer temps, autumn merchandise is already beginning to arrive in shops. Since crop tops and over-size shoulders may not be for everyone, I present to you five fall trends anyone can incorporate into their fall wardrobe. Yes, anyone, that means you! I’ve simplified the trends to their essence of what, why, and how. What is the trend, why you should consider it, and how to incorporate it into your wardrobe.

So grab a pumpkin spice latte to sip and shop the boards below. Click any board to take you to my Goodpix site where you can shop each item directly. Pencils and lunch box not included.
