Catalog Round Up!

I’m probably dating myself by saying this, but do you remember how exciting it used to be to get catalogs? Pre-internet it was an amazing way to shop outside your neighborhood. Even as a kid I remember dragging my brother and neighbor kids to the back yard with the latest issue from Sears or JCPenney. I’d make everyone look at the pages and ask which item they would chose on each page, only one! Or I’d ask, “Which outfit would you wear on your honeymoon? Which fabulous ring would you pick?” I’m STILL obsessed by that 80’s-cluster-starburst style of jewelry from all those years staring wistfully at the pages of the Service Merchandise catalog!

I’m on pretty much every mailing list there is and I still get a ton of catalogs. Even though I don’t typically order from them, I can’t help but look! My shopping philosophy is that you can find great pieces ANYWHERE if you know what to look for. Who doesn’t love discovering a treasure that everyone else might be overlooking?

As a testament to my theory, I now present to you my spring CATALOG ROUND UP! (Insert yeehaw and crack of whip sound here!) I’ve selected a few of the spring issues I’ve recently received and highlighted some of the best items from their pages. Happy shopping! And yes, you can choose more than one. ;)

Amour Vert is a relatively new DTC brand based in San Francisco. I love these wide leg chambray pants as a breezy summer option! Fabric drape is so important for a flattering wide leg style and these look like they have potential. I also love everything about this silk wrap skirt, the styling, the print, everything! Amour Vert also prides themselves about sustainability so you can feel good about spending your money there.

Sarah Flint offers elegant, luxury shoes at a reasonable price point for their quality. These polka dot mesh pumps (and flats!) give me vintage feels! I haven’t personally worn her shoes, but word on the street is that they are very comfortable too!

Just go ahead and give me everything in the Rails catalog! Effortless, soft, and breathable styles you’ll want to wear all season. Everyone needs a casual, summer LBD and their “Clement” dress is a great option. It can be hard to wear a blazer in the summer without feeling stuffy or hot, but this striped linen blazer feels just right. Rails offers a men’s line as well, although it wasn’t in this catalog.

I like to think of Wrap London as if Rails and Eileen Fisher had a baby. Wrap offers a lot of soft, easy fabrics like Rails with a little more conservative styling. This catalog it feels like it’s based in sunny California, not London! I love all henleys, so this tank style is definitely a win for me. I also know a lot of women don’t like showing their arms and it’s challenging to find summer layering options that aren’t sweltering. Their linen cocoon cardi comes in three colors and runs up to a US size 18.

Venus, oh what can I say about this catalog? Venus usually feels a little too….everything for me personally, but I love a challenge and you CAN find good pieces everywhere! This is their swim edition so I chose this color blocked monokini. If I could lay off the quarantine carbs I’d consider this! I’m also a sucker for a sweater tee so I picked this coral one. Venus has a build your own bikini option which I think is thoughtful and offers sizes up to 24. Otherwise, shop carefully friends!

That’s it for this catalog round up! What did you think? Do you have a catalog/brand you want to try but don’t know what to order? Message me and I’ll talk you through it!
